LBACS Volunteers

Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS) Volunteers assist us by socializing our animals, grooming, special events,dog training and helping our kennel staff as needed. The are an integral part of what we do at the shelter. If you are interested in volunteering as a LBACS Volunteer and you are 18 years of age or older, please fill out the application below and either drop it off in person or mail it:

Once we have received your application and the initial screening has taken place, you can attend our volunteer orientation from 6pm-8pm at the shelter. Orientation dates

for 2019 are the second Friday of every month:
  • March 8th
  • April 12th
  • May 10th
  • July 12th
  • August 9th
  • September 13th 
  • October 11th
  • November 8th 
  • December 13th

You can also attend the orientation before filling out the 

application, however, attending the orientation does not guarantee you will be approved to volunteer. After the orientation is completed and you are approved to be a volunteer, you will have to complete aLiveScan and apply for a badge, at no cost to you. The final step to becoming a volunteer is shadowing one of our designated LBACS Volunteers.
