Welcome to the Long Beach City Attorney's homepage. On August 6, 2013, the Long Beach City Council appointed me as the successor for the unexpired balance of the term of Robert Shannon who retired after 39 years with the City. On June 3, 2014, I was elected as Long Beach City Attorney to a four year term. It is my honor to serve as the City Attorney with this outstanding staff of 64 employees, including 20 attorneys. This office is committed to serving the citizens of Long Beach by providing the City with proactive, timely and accurate legal services.

The City Attorney's Office is comprised of four divisions: Departmental Counsel, Litigation, Harbor and Workers' Compensation and has an operating budget of approximately 8.9 million dollars for fiscal year 2014. The office is responsible for all of the civil litigation, legislative and legal issues and administrative code enforcement.

You are encouraged to review this website, as it is designed with you, the citizen, in mind. Since this is your City Attorney's office, please feel free to comment on any aspect of our work or this website.
