It’s Showtime at Your Library!
Summer Reading 2019
Summer Reading is a great way to put books center stage this summer. You can revisit familiar characters and stories, discover new favorites, and earn great prizes for doing what you already love to do: read!
LBPL challenges children, teens, and adults to read throughout the summer with reading programs and prizes designed just for them, along with plenty of free special performances to entertain and educate!
The 2019 Summer Reading Program runs from June 15 to August 10, 2019.
To register, visit any of our neighborhood libraries.
Summer Reading for kids is free, fun, and a perfect way for kids to stay sharp over the summer!
Children are asked to read (or be read to) five days out of the week, and complete two activities from their Summer Reading folder on the remaining two days to earn a prize and a chance to win the Grand Prize at the end of the summer.
We know you’ll be busy earning prizes and reading all summer long, but don’t miss out on the amazing special performances at your local library. Please arrive early for performances, space is limited.
Teen Summer Reading challenges teens to step into the spotlight and discover books centered on the performing arts. Teens receive a “Summer Reading Program” to keep track of their reading, and a list of handpicked books that will help them get started on fulfilling the challenges in their “Summer Reading Program.”
Reading three books earns them a stellar prize and an entry into the Grand Prize drawing at the end of the summer.
To celebrate all of their work reading throughout the summer, teens are invited to belt out their favorite tunes, solo or with their friends at Teen Karaoke Night!
Adult Summer Reading is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and into the limelight with books about the performing arts. Adults will receive a “Summer Reading Program” with challenges on every page to read books about a specific performing art, along with a reading list to help them get started on picking out new favorites.
Reading three books earns them a prize and a chance to win big in our Grand Prize drawing at the end of the summer!
