LBPL To-Go Frequently Asked Questions
A: Pick up is available Tuesday through Saturday, 10am – 3pm at Bay Shore, Mark Twain, Los Altos, Harte, El Dorado, Michelle Obama, and BJK Main Libraries.
A: LBPL To-Go is available for current full- and limited-access library card holders whose account is in good standing. If you have a balance due of $20 or more, you must pay this before you can pick up any held items – please call our general reference line to resolve issues with your library account: (562) 570-7500.
For the safety of our staff, we will not be able to process payments at LBPL To-Go locations. LBPL To-Go is not currently available for computer use only cardholders. If you would like to make a payment, you can mail a check to BJK Main Library at 200 W Broadway, Long Beach CA 90802.
A: Yes! First fill out a card application. Next, call BJK Main Library at 562-570-7500 Tuesday-Saturday, 10am to 5pm to complete the process. We’ll make an appointment for you to come to Main to pick up your card. You will need to bring a picture ID and proof of address to your appointment.
Please note that at this time library cards are being made at BJK Main Library only.
A: Anyone may pick up your items but they must have your library card number. When you call to arrange pick-up, let us know who will be picking up for you.
A: Online holds are subject to the regular limits: 25 per library card. Holds placed via phone may be limited depending on staff availability and patron demand.
A: Yes. You are able to cancel two ways. You may call the pick-up library to cancel and reschedule or you may cancel and reschedule by clicking this link.
A: Please call the library at 562-570-7500 to discuss options. It may be possible to suspend your hold for a certain amount of time.
A: Yes! Book drops are now open at all locations except BJK Main Library. Please place books in the book drops and avoid handing them directly to staff.
At BJK Main Library, items can be returned in the bin at the LBPL To-Go Table.
Please note that there will be a 7 day quarantine period for all returns. Items will not be taken off your account until 7 days after they have been returned.
A: We are extending checkout periods to 30 days during this time to allow patrons more flexibility. Your due date will be listed on your receipt upon pickup.
A: Not yet, unfortunately.
A: All staff members are required to wear a face mask and will practice social distancing from other staff members and members of the public during contactless pick-up service. We are cleaning high contact surfaces regularly. Returned materials are quarantined for 7 days before check in.
