Blair Field Hosts Long Beach
Baseball and Softball Halls of Fame Induction

The City of Long Beach, Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine will host the fourth annual Baseball and Softball Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, July 26th at Blair Field, located at 4700 Deukmejian Drive. The plaque unveilings and induction ceremony will be held at the field preceding a luncheon for honorees and their guests. The Hall of Fame inductees will be introduced prior to the 7:05 p.m. game between the Long Beach Armada and the Calgary Vipers.
Blair Field recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and is the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame, and Joe Rogers Field is home to the Softball Hall of Fame. The 2008 Baseball Hall of Fame inductees will include: Lou Berberet, Dick Cole, Eddie Bockman, Greg Harris, Jim Pagliaroni, Tom Sisk, Jack Salveson, Roger Jongewaard and John Gonsalves. The 2008 Softball Hall of Fame inductees will include: Bob Osborn, Mickey Davis, Bob Bomar, Russ Fendley and Carla Williams.
The Baseball and Softball Halls of Fame were created in 2004 to recognize Long Beach athletes, coaches and/or administrators who have made a positive impact on the City. Inductees must have been active as a competitive Long Beach player, coach or administrator for a minimum of two years and must have had considerable impact on the sport through his or her actions and/or successes. This could include, but was not limited to, the candidate’s longevity in the community and sport, working with others through coaching, or having had personal successes and/or extraordinary talent. Teams were also eligible candidates for the recognition.
