Adaptive Recreation classes for Young Adults
Enjoy life with two brand new adaptive recreation classes from Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine! Space is limited, so be sure to sign up soon!

ArtBeat for Humanity Drum Painting  The first day of class will be an Artbeat Drum Circle and is free to interested students, to experience the class. ArtBeat for Humanity provides the opportunity for artists with disabilities a chance to utilize the drum as a canvas for creative expression. Drum heads will be transformed into circular art forms know as mandalas. Self-expression will be explored through bright colors, shape and symbols that represent the artist in you. This six-week course is for young adults ages 18 to 22, and is $90 per participant with a $60 material fee to be paid in class (cash only). The course will take place Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30pm at Whaley Park, with two available sessions: December 5 to January 23, or January 30 to March 6.

Step Out & Socialize  Adults with high functioning disabilities can get out in the community and have fun socializing with peers. Members must be verbal, follow simple directions, and stay with a group. Be advised that music may be played during activities and participants need to be capable of engaging in activities. Members will meet at the destination for the day. The first day of class is orientation only with material fees each class based on session's activities. This five-week course is for adults ages 18+, and is only $80 per participant. The course will take place Saturdays from 12 to 3pm at Stearns Champions Park, from January 5 to March 2.
