Long Beach, CA - Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine’s pools will offer limited programming beginning Monday, June 29, with lap swim and water exercise classes at Belmont Plaza Pool (4320 E Olympic Plaza) and Martin Luther King, Jr. Park Pool (1950 Lemon Ave.). Starting July 6, Belmont Plaza Pool and Martin Luther King, Jr. Park Pool also will offer swim lessons. The Silverado Park Pool (1540 W. 32nd St.) will begin programming on Monday, July 6, for all three programs.
“Public pools will soon be reopened with modifications,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “Pools are a great way to escape the summer heat and catch some exercise.”
Lap Swim and Water Exercise
Lap swim and water exercise programs will be offered on a reservation-only basis, with increased cleaning and other modifications to better protect the safety of staff and participants. All lanes will be set up in a short course 25-meter length to increase capacity while ensuring physical distancing. Shower and restroom facilities will be available, and locker rooms will be accessible, on a limited basis, where available.
Lap swim will be limited to 45-minute sessions and will be open to one person per lane. Water exercise classes also will be limited based on available space within the pool to allow for physical distancing.
