The community is invited to share their thoughts and help shape a new mental health initiative designed to provide collaborative, whole-person care in Long Beach. The "Health Neighborhood Initiative" forum is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at American Gold Star Manor, 3021 N Gold Star Dr., and is sponsored by the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, Mental Health America, Long Beach Building Healthy Communities, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, and the California Endowment.
“Part of having a healthy city is supporting the mental health of residents,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “This forum provides an opportunity for the community to share ideas and strategies for creating healthy community, and I encourage anyone with an interest to attend.”
Bringing together residents and community partners supporting health, mental health, and substance abuse, Health Neighborhoods work to establish and enhance collaborative relationships to promote health and well-being, and to promote the integrated care.
The forum is designed for residents, civic and community leaders, and providers to participate in discussion that will help move forward a collaborative, grassroots, and informed initiative to develop and strengthen community-level behavioral and physical health networks in Long Beach.
Light refreshments and free parking will be available, in addition to bilingual support for Spanish and Khmer speakers. To register, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
