The community is invited to attend the 11th Annual Kids in the Kitchen event on Saturday, March 12, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, 1950 Lemon Ave., Long Beach. The free event is sponsored by the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (LBDHHS) Healthy Active Long Beach Program and the Junior League Long Beach (JLLB).

“This very important community event offers families an excellent opportunity to come together and have fun, and learn about health and wellness,” said Mayor Robert Garcia.

The theme of this year’s event is “Make a Great Plate!” and, in that spirit, attendees can sample healthy recipes, have fun at the many educational games and interactive resource booths, and participate in multiple recreation opportunities.

The event brings together many city and community programs to provide free skill-building activities designed to empower people to decrease the risk for obesity and related chronic diseases. New to this year’s exciting lineup will be a special concert by the popular local band Jelly of the Month Club.
