Previously, he was Director of Airports, Operations, overseeing Ontario International and Van Nuys Airports; Airport Manager; and Director of Airport Real Estate.
"I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to working with the community, all airport stakeholders and partners,” commented Mr. Romo. “I am committed to being an approachable and responsive steward of this great airport.”
Mr. Romo’s responsibilities will include oversight of Long Beach Airport, including operations, finances and leases, the Airport Noise Ordinance, community outreach, environmental matters, capital improvements, tenant relationships, security, air service and public affairs.
LGB has won numerous awards, and the Long Beach Airport Area Complex is a major economic development resource, supporting 43,000 jobs and generating more than $11 billion into the regional economy.
Mr. Romo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine and Master of Arts degree in Industrial Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. He is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). “I would like to thank Interim Airport Director Juan Lopez-Rios for his oversight these past few months at the airport,” commented Mr. West. “Mr. Lopez-Rios will continue his service at the airport as Deputy Director.”
Mr. Romo is replacing Bryant L. Francis, who resigned as Director in February 2016 to accept a position as Director of Aviation for the Oakland International Airport.
