Long Beach Airport (LGB) is the most affordable airport in the United States this year, according to the seventh annual Airport Affordability Index published by The yearly survey is compiled each summer from search data that helps travelers compare airfare pricing across the country, and sheds light on air travel trends.

“It’s great to hear that Long Beach Airport has regained the No. 1 spot for affordability,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “Long Beach is the gateway to Southern California, and having the most affordable airport in the country is an incredible economic asset for our city.”

The average airfare at LGB was only $202. LGB was the most affordable airport in two previous surveys, and last year was the seventh-most affordable airport.

“The survey shows why it is so important to comparison shop when searching for airfare,” said Juan López-Rios, Interim Airport Director. “Travelers are currently enjoying some of the best prices in recent history for airfare, which is why it is such a bonus for Long Beach Airport to be at the top of the list for affordability.”
