Long Beach City Health Officer, Dr. Anissa Davis, has lifted the closure order on beaches west of the Belmont Pier after consecutive lab results indicated that there is no measurable impact from the sewage spill at the City's beaches, and that the water is within State water quality standards. Beaches west of Belmont Pier were closed for recreational water contact on Monday morning following a 9,000-gallon sewage spill in the City of Commerce. The cause of the sewage spill was a blocked sewage pipe.

For the latest status on Long Beach recreational beach water quality, the public can call the Water Hotline at (562) 570-4199 or visit http://www.longbeach.gov/beachwaterquality.
