Minimum Wage Study Released; Community Invited to Provide Input

As requested by the City Council at their meeting of August 11, 2015, the City of Long Beach today released the Minimum Wage Study from the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) on the potential benefits and impacts of implementing a citywide minimum wage. As part of the continuing community review process, the community is encouraged to provide public comment at the following upcoming public meetings:

• Tuesday, November 17, 12:00 pm; Mayor’s Roundtable, Admiral Kidd Park, 2125 Santa Fe Ave.
• Friday, November 20, 4:00 pm: Long Beach City Council Economic Development and Finance Committee meeting, Bay Shore Library, 195 Bay Shore Ave.
• Tuesday, November 24, 6:30 pm; Economic Development Commission, Long Beach City Council Chambers, 411 W. Ocean Blvd.

As part of the community review process for the Minimum Wage Study, a series of six public meetings, including the three mentioned above, were identified for residents, workers, and business owners to provide public comment and input to the Mayor, City Council and the Economic Development Commission. The Minimum Wage Study is expected to return to the City Council in mid to late January, 2016.
