The City of Long Beach is set to begin work the week of November 2 on street improvements along Ocean Boulevard between Livingston Drive and Bay Shore Avenue. Work is anticipated to take approximately nine weeks to complete (weather-related or unforeseen conditions may affect overall schedule).

“Ocean Boulevard provides residents and visitors access to our beautiful coastline,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “We continue to make progress on critical infrastructure in the City, while remaining sensitive to our unique urban coastal habitats.”

The rehabilitation work will improve street conditions by reconstructing areas of deteriorated pavement, cold milling, and resurfacing the pavement. Additionally, pavement markers, traffic striping, signage, and curb paint will refresh Ocean Boulevard. The project also consists of replacing damaged curbs and gutters, driveways, alley entrances and sidewalks.

“Ocean Boulevard serves as one of the iconic gateways to the recreational opportunities available in Belmont Shore, and I’m delighted to see this project move forward,” said Councilwoman Suzie Price.

Area residents will receive written notifications outlining the work schedule, and temporary signage will be posted along the roadway to alert motorists of parking restrictions. During construction, street sweeping enforcement will be temporarily suspended to alleviate parking issues in the area bound by Ocean Boulevard on the south, Division Street on the north, Livingston Drive on the west and Bay Shore Avenue on the east.

Roads will stay open during working hours. However, motorists can expect traffic delays as a result of the potential closure of one lane during construction.

Additionally, residents who live on Ocean Boulevard between Livingston Drive and Bay Shore Avenue will receive information regarding parking accommodations.
