Today Long Beach Health Officials re-opened coastal beaches east of Molino Avenue after lab results indicated bacterial levels were within state standards, following a sewage spill in the City of San Gabriel on September 15. Daily water samples now confirm that the water in this area is safe for swimming.
Coastal beaches west of Molino Avenue, while clearing and improving significantly, will remain closed until daily water monitoring ensures that they are safe to re-open.
Bayside beaches that were never impacted by the spill continue to remain open.
