Public Invited to Coolidge Park Dog Park Grand Opening on March 22
Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster, 9th District Long Beach City
Councilmember Steven Neal, and the Department of Parks, Recreation
and Marine invite the public to a grand opening ceremony for the
Coolidge Park Dog Park on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10 am at the
northern end of Coolidge Park, 352 Neece Avenue.
"Coolidge Park Dog Park is the first dog park in northwest Long
Beach, the City's eighth dog park, and the newest park where dogs
and their owners can make friends and be active,” Mayor
The 0.25-acre dog park features perimeter fencing, double-gate
entry, separation between large and small dog areas, a drinking
fountain, benches and waste bag dispensers. The dog park is also

Councilmember Neal. "Last month we installed new basketball courts,
a playground, and exercise equipment. Now we're completing the job,
by unveiling this great new dog park. It's all part of our 'Uptown
Renaissance' improving our park facilities and the quality of life
in our neighborhoods."
The community was involved in the planning of the dog park. The
City of Long Beach now has 10.31 acres of parkspace where dogs can
The cost to construct the dog park was approximately $35,000, with
funding from one-time infrastructure dollars.
The park was designed to accommodate future amenities, should funds
become available through donations or sponsorships.
