Sustainable City Action Plan
The City Council adopted the Long Beach Sustainable City Action Plan on February 2, 2010. This plan is intended to guide operational, policy and financial decisions to create a more sustainable Long Beach.
The Sustainable City Action Plan includes measurable goals and actions that are intended to be challenging, yet realistic. The chapters include:
- Buildings & Neighborhoods
- Green Economy & Lifestyle
- Urban Nature
- Waste Reduction
Recognizing the interconnectedness of our environment and our place in it, the initiatives in this plan are interconnected as well. This plan is meant to guide our decisions, expand our thinking and inspire us to strive toward a truly sustainable Long Beach.
Additionally, every year the Sustainable City Commission works with staff to develop an Annual Work Plan in order to identify projects and programs that will be prioritized for the coming year.
