Latest Updates - January 2024
The City's contractor, Harry H. Joh Construction, is scheduled to begin street construction on Molino Avenue between Ocean Boulevard and 2nd Street, beginning late January 2024 with a scheduled completion, barring weather or other unforeseen delays, in April 2024.
The project includes removing existing cobra head street lights, installing historic post top street lights, and other appurtenant work.
The contractor is scheduled to perform work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. No parking signs will be posted a minimum of two days prior to the start of work. Efforts will be made to maintain as much parking as possible.
The contractor encourages residents to:
- Keep away from street and construction activities
- Reduce water runoff from driveways and lawn irrigation into the street before or during construction activities

Project Information
The Bluff Park Historic Lamppost Project will improve public safety, promote walkability, and enhance the overall pedestrian and visitor experience along Molino Avenue between Ocean Boulevard and 2nd Street through updated lighting.
The Bluff Park Historic Lamppost Project is a continuation of street improvements in the historic Bluff Park Neighborhood that began with the Palmoa Avenue and Temple Avenue Projects. This project consists of the removal of nine existing cobra head street lights and the installation of ten decorative historic post top street lights along Molino Avenue between Ocean Boulevard and 2nd Street.
This project is identified as one of the Right of Way, Water Quality, and Climate Action Projects in the Elevate 28 Infrastructure Investment Plan.

Project Funding
This project is currently supported by Measure A, as well as through private donations provided by the Bluff Park Neighborhood Association. Measure A is a Long Beach ballot initiative approved by voters in 2016 as a 10-year sales tax to fund public infrastructure and public safety services and was extended indefinitely by voters in 2020.
