LONG BEACH – On Monday, December 18, 2017, the City of Long Beach, Office of the City Clerk, will host a Candidate Workshop at 10:00 AM in the Council Chamber, 411 W Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802. Information will be provided to members of the public seeking nomination for the Primary Nominating Election Office of Mayor, City Attorney, City Auditor, City Prosecutor, Council Districts 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.
The Candidate Workshop will kick-off the start of the nomination period which opens Monday, December 18, 2017, and closes at 5:00 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018. Official nomination papers will be available to prospective candidates at the conclusion of the Candidate Workshop.
The workshop will cover information about nomination guidelines, candidate’s statement, campaigning regulations, campaign finance, vote-by-mail, and Long Beach laws.
Monique De La Garza, City Clerk, stated: “Our office is invested in providing resources to prospective Long Beach candidates, regardless of experience, with pertinent election information. The Candidate Workshop will make this information accessible to all candidates.”
Candidate Handbooks will be available at the Candidate Workshop, on the City Clerk website, and at the Office of the City Clerk counter.
A priority for the Office of the City Clerk is to maintain the integrity of the election process. The Candidate Workshop and Handbook will guide candidates to promote transparency.
