Civil Marriage

Rings

Civil Marriages will be temporarily suspended until January 2024.

On Friday, September 19, 2014, Governor Brown signed AB 1525 by Assembly member Bonnie Lowenthal into State law. The bill was sponsored by the City of Long Beach and allows City Clerks to perform marriages, thus enhancing civic engagement in the process. Effective January 1, 2015, the City Clerk can begin performing the marriage ceremonies.

The fees are as follows:

Civil Ceremony: $35

Witness request: $20

Before scheduling your marriage ceremony here at Long Beach City Hall, you need to obtain a valid Marriage License for the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. Once a couple has obtained their marriage license and participated in a qualified ceremony, the marriage license becomes a marriage certificate that must be sent back to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to be recorded.
