Federal Legislative Outreach

The Government Affairs Office main purpose is to advocate, coordinate and advance the City’s Federal Legislative Agenda to enhance the City’s ability to govern and provide essential municipal and community services. The issues of primary focus for the Office include transportation funding, climate change, air quality, homeland security, and other legislation at the forefront of federal policies. This Office analyzes federal legislation, conducts research and provides strategic guidance to the Mayor and City Council, and City Departments. This Office also works closely with the Federal Legislative Committee of the City Council to assist the Committee in reviewing federal legislation affecting the City and proposed changes to municipal ordinances in order to make recommendations to the full City Council.
