BUSINESS BEAT: LBX Gets Fit With New Businesses; Entrepreneurs Go To Boot Camp; Cleaner Port Trucks Roll Out

Long Beach Exchange, a new shopping center on the southwest corner of Lakewood Boulevard and Carson Street — also known as Douglas Park — is celebrating the opening of several boutique fitness businesses.

Orange County-based Ra Yoga opened its doors on Monday, currently offering more than 100 different classes each week in 14 different styles of yoga, plus private sessions. Childcare programs also are available at the 3,400-square-foot studio, which includes a meditation room, retail boutique and locker rooms.

Other fitness-oriented businesses also are part of the project, including GritCycle and Orangetheory Fitness, which have reported high initial and pre-sale membership package sales.

“Long Beach has been underserved when it comes to boutique fitness concepts,” Jill Yasuda, studio manager of GritCycle, said.
