A list of destinations are posted on a flight board inside The Hangar, but instead of cities, the locales are the options at the soon-to-open Long Beach food hall and include eateries such as Jay Bird’s Nashville Hot Chicken and Mexican restaurant Amorcito.

The directory is a nod to the city’s aviation history at the 26-acre Long Beach Exchange retail development at 3991 N. Lakewood Blvd., known as LBX, which was built on land that formerly housed the Boeing Co.

The Hangar opens with many tenants participating in the Giving Gala event to benefit local non-profits on Feb. 13, but most of the 14 spots at the food hall are expected to be up and running by Feb. 21, said Bryon Ward, president of project developers Burnham Ward Properties, LLC.

“This is the sort of the heartbeat of LBX. This is where we’re going to have the largest collection of food offerings. This is where we’re going to be staging and hosting events, community events and various gatherings,” Ward said.
