As of today, multiple wildfires continue to burn throughout Northern California.

On August 2nd, 2014, Governor Brown declared a State of Emergency based on the number and severity of these fires.

In response to the declared “State of Emergency”, the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) has requested the support of the Long Beach Fire Department to provide additional assistance.  As an active participant in the Statewide Master Mutual Aid system, the Long Beach Fire Department takes an active role in supporting unmet needs throughout California.

On Sunday, August 3rd, the Long Beach Fire Department sent multiple resources to Northern California in response to the request from CalOES.

It is unknown how long the Long Beach Fire Department resources will be assigned to these fires.

Within the City of Long Beach, all fire stations remain staffed and at full operational capacity.  There has been no impact to the level of service provided to our community.  The safety and protection of lives, property, and the environment in the City of Long Beach remain our number one priority.
