At approximately 7:09 PM, Long Beach Fire units responded to reports of a garage fire on the 3000 block of East 64th Street. At 7:14 PM, Engine 12 arrived onscene and reported heavy fire showing from a detached garage towards the rear of the reported address.

Fire units initiated an aggressive fire attack and confined the fire to the detached garage and provided exposure protection that limited the fire to the garage. Knockdown of the fire was completed at 7:20 PM.

There were 4 residents at home when the incident occurred. Neighbors attempted to put the fire out with garden hoses but were unsuccessful with their efforts. There were no reports of injuries and the damage was confined to the garage.

At the height of the fire, there were a total of 21 firefighters assigned to the incident. The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
