Man in Full Arrest After Fall from Belmont Pier
At 5:46pm this evening, LBFD resources were dispatched to reports of a man who had fallen from a railing at the Belmont Pier into the water below. A responding lifeguard rescue boat found a man face down in the water upon arrival. The patient, a man in his 40's, was pulled from the water by lifeguards and found to be pulseless and non-breathing. CPR and lifesaving measures were immediately initiated by the boat crew and the man was transported to the Ballast Point Dock in Alamitos Bay to awaiting paramedics and rescue personnel. Paramedics continued advanced life support (ALS) treatment of the patient in route to a local hospital and were able to regain the man's pulse and a stable blood pressure. Patient outcome is unknown at this time.
