At approximately 6:00pm on July 21, 2016, Long Beach Fire Department's Marine Safety Rescue Boats 1 and 2 responded to a 36-foot power vessel sinking approximately 2.5 miles from shore with 6 passengers aboard. The passengers included three adults, two kids, and one infant.

The passengers were able to disembark onto a bait barge until rescue boats arrived.

Both rescue boats began aggressive dewatering procedures on the sinking vessel and prevented it from sinking.

The passengers were safely transferred to one Rescue Boat, while the other towed the disabled vessel back to its home slip in Spinnaker Bay (Alamitos Bay).
