Volunteers Needed for the 2020 Bike and Ped Count
Release Date: 2020-10-16
UPDATE: Due to air quality concerns, the Bike and Pedestrian Count was postponed two weeks from 10/29 and 11/1 to 11/12 and 11/15.
The City of Long Beach is seeking volunteers for its thirteenth annual bike and pedestrian count.
Every year, volunteers and City employees tally the number of bike riders and pedestrians at key intersections across Long Beach. They observe the number of people traveling by bike or by foot and how individuals are using the roadway. Count data helps the City determine the effectiveness of infrastructure projects and provides planners and engineers with key information for designing new projects.
Due to the current COVID-19 Health Orders, we ask that volunteers observe all Long Beach Health Department guidance as well as wear a face covering and maintain physical distance throughout the duration of the count. All forms will be sent to volunteers electronically and we ask that materials are scanned and sent back via email.
The more volunteers who join the effort, the more locations the City can analyze. Participants can choose from any of the following time slots:
• Thursday, November 12 from 7:00am – 9:00am
• Thursday, November 12 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm
• Sunday, November 15 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm
