Through the Long Beach Recovery Act (LBRA) the City of Long Beach will be able to provide short term E-bike rentals to Long Beach residents. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to experience the advantages of active transportation using E-bikes to replace short car, rideshare, or bus trips. Selected participants will be granted a rental term of 3 months max to check out the E-bike and all its features and capabilities within program guidelines.
Applications will be accepted between March 18th, 2024 through April 18th, 2024 for the first round of E-bike rentals. Future rounds will be announced based on interest and availability.
Participant selection will be based on the following:
- Applications will be selected through a random lottery style.
- Two-thirds of recipients will be low-income. Low-income status will be defined by current participation in one of the benefit assistance programs listed below (resident verification required if selected to participate in the program)
- The model of E-bike requested (based on availability and flexibility).
- Must be a Long Beach resident (verification required if selected to participate in the program).
- Must be 18 years of age or older (verification required if selected to participate in the program).
- Applicants must have basic bike riding knowledge and skills.
- Applicants must demonstrate they have safe and appropriate locations to store and charge an E-bike.
Applicants who have been selected to participate in the program will be notified by May 6th, 2024.
