Eco-Totem Bike and Pedestrian Counter
In 2016 the City installed its first eco-totem on the Beach Path near Belmont Pier. The totem counts both pedestrians and bicylists via infrared and inductive loops in real time. Each totem displays both the daily and annual totals for each travel mode. In 2019, the City installed a second eco-totem on the reconfigured Broadway protected bike lanes at the Promenade in Downtown Long Beach.
