BUREAU OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
OCEAN WATER MONITORING
Long Beach has approximately 7 miles of public beach and bays attracting thousands of residents and visitors throughout the year. To protect the safety of our residents and visitors, water samples are collected three times a week and tested routinely. A sampling includes the Ocean and Bays area. Samples collected are submitted and analyzed at the Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Lab. If sample results are outside state standards, re-sampling is done and continued until results are within state standards.
For the latest status on ocean and bays, call our Hotline at (562) 570-4199 or visit our website:
In addition to online posting, closure or warning signs are posted on the shore.
