Located in Central Long Beach at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, the Central Facilities Center opened in October 1974 to serve the community.
The center contains three components: childcare services, provided by the City of Long Beach Unified School District; public health services, provided by the Department of Health and Human Services; and community service nonprofit agencies.
A major purpose of the center is to provide community-based services within close proximity, information and referral, outreach and public relations and personnel to direct residents to specific agencies that can meet their needs.
The following programs and services are provided at the center:
- Helpline Youth Counseling, Inc.- Individual, group and family counseling to Long Beach at-risk youth ages 8-18. Parent Empowerment classes are also provided. M-F 8am-5pm (562) 599-2244
- LBUSD Child Development Center- Educational child-care services to children of low-income parents, between the ages of 2-5 years. M-F 6:30am-5:30pm (562) 599-7717
- Women, Infants & Children (WIC) - Supplemental nutrition program that provides monthly food coupons, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to health care services. M-F 8:30am-5:30pm (562) 570-4242

- New Generations - Leadership, mentoring and sports programming for youth. (562) 570-4434
- United Cambodian Community (UCC) - Mentoring, tutoring, youth leadership classes, and translation services. (562) 570-4419
- First 5 LA - Best Start program to improve health of children. (562) 570-4427
- A New Way of Life Re-Entry Project - Program to support for women and girls to lead healthy lives. (562) 570-4421

PEACE GARDEN
Garden Hours: M-F 8:00am -5:00pm
The PEACE GARDEN plots are offered to local community residents for growing their own fruits and vegetables. Adopting a plot in the PEACE GARDEN increase availability of fresh produce for the gardeners and their families, and offers the community the opportunity for recreation and positive social interaction.
The PEACE GARDEN participates and hosts several community events here at the park, and also offers:

- Community Workdays and Harvest Giveaways!!
