Farmers Markets
At this time, farmers markets and licensed bodegas are allowed to operate in the City of Long Beach. The City is working with the operators of these establishments to practice physical distancing and adopt best practices that will allow them to remain open under the current Health Order. Given the crisis, we are now witnessing a new phenomenon of restauranteurs opening pop-up markets as shopping alternatives within their facilities. Farmers markets and bodegas provide the community with fresh food. This food can be used by local restaurants to provide alternative food options while maintaining compliance with the "Safer at Home" Health Order. We are in the process of reviewing this issue, in depth, with our Health Department and other city departments to determine whether these current conditions may continue. Changes to the current approach will be communicated and clarified through a revised Health Order should that become necessary.
