Street Outreach Network

Street outreach is often the City’s first step in helping people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Outreach teams go directly to where people are, such as sidewalks, parks, the beach, and areas near freeways. They work to build trust, understand needs, and connect people with shelter, services, and housing.

The City has several dedicated outreach teams that travel throughout Long Beach to offer support and meet basic needs. Every month, they respond to community requests and make hundreds of proactive contacts with people in need.

Outreach is a key part of how we respond to homelessness. It helps us build trust by meeting people where they are.

The City has outreach teams that travel across Long offer services and basic needs. We also have three special REACH teams (Restorative Engagement to Achieve Collective Health) made up of a:

  • Mental health clinician
  • Public health nurse
  • Outreach worker

These teams help people with serious mental and physical health needs and connect them to long-term care and support.
