Westside Promise Presents Westside Night Market

The Community Development Department, together with the Economic Development and Opportunity Department, and supported by the Offices of the Mayor and Vice Mayor, will kick off a series of Westside Night Markets. The event series will be the first of its kind on the Westside as part of the 10-year community investment plan known as the Westside Promise initiative. Throughout the fall, the Westside Night Markets will serve as vibrant community gatherings to activate and strengthen the local economy and celebrate the identity of the Westside.

Neighborhood business owners recently formed the Westside Long Beach Business Alliance (WLBBA), and one of their first collective requests was to establish a night market to increase visibility and support for local Westside businesses. The City held weekly event-planning meetings with the WLBBA to create an activation that reflects the culture of the Westside. By co-creating a recurring, high-energy marketplace where residents can shop from neighborhood vendors, the event will boost foot traffic, stimulate small business growth and highlight the entrepreneurial talent in the area.
