Advance Planning

The Advanced Planning Division addresses matters concerning the quality of life, growth, historic preservation, and the environment. Advanced Planning supports ongoing land development activities by conducting special long-range studies, as well as in-depth investigations and analyses of planning issues that affect the City and region.

The City’s Advance Planning Division focuses on long-range plans that typically encompass an entire area of the City, such as the General Plan, Downtown Plan, Southeast Area Specific Plan (SEASP), and Local Coastal Program.

The Planning and Zoning phone line is open Monday through Thursday during regular business hours and closes daily for lunch from Noon to 1:00 p.m. The Permit Center is closed daily for lunch from Noon to 1:00 p.m.
