Architects: Charles & Henry Greene

One of three homes in Long Beach designed by the famous Pasadena architects, this building pioneered the influence of Japanese design and originally had a Japanese garden. The exterior construction of clinker brick panels set in wood timbers is unique. The Green brothers are renowned for elevating the Craftsman style to a highly refined aesthetic. Originally all its interior furnishings were designed by the architects; most of these are gone today. The house was extensively remodeled by architect Adrian Wilson in 1953. Adelaide Tichenor was an influential civic leader; she founded the Ebell Club, the City's public library, and the Tichenor Orthopedic Clinic.
