HANCOCK MOTORS

hancock

Architects: Arthur & Cecil Schilling

This building, Long Beach's first one designed in the Art Deco style, was constructed along Anaheim's automobile row as a Hupmobile showroom. Bands of lavish Art Deco ornament, combining abstract designs with motifs from nature, created a modernistic palace to showcase modern motoring machines. The building's interiors are beautifully detailed and have survived intact today. Schilling and Schilling pioneered Art Deco design in Long Beach, and created many buildings in that style.
