KALE HOUSE

Owner-builder William S. Kale constructed a unique and lavishly appointed home, which included many customized features. The house blends several architectural styles: Victorian, Craftsman and Prairie. An addition was constructed in 1936 at 440 East 9th Street as an Art Music Hall for a music teacher, who later converted the property into an arts academy. Subsequently it became the Church of Religious Science and then Temple Beth-El. Recently it has been restored back to a home.
