Architect: Raymond A. Sites
This nondenominational church was founded by Reverend Louise Newman and her husband, Reverend John Samuel Newman, in 1923. The site was purchased in 1933, and building funds were raised through a grass-roots fundraising campaign. The building is residential-scaled, drawing on Mediterranean and Romanesque sources. The interior has outstanding stencil decoration, and unique painted commemorative windows. Long Beach has a strong tradition of religious activity, dating from the city's early history.
