Property owners can now save time and money on accessory dwelling unit (ADU) projects with the City’s Pre-Approved Accessory Dwelling Unit Program, which gives property owners access to pre-approved plans. PAADU project plans along with contact information for design professionals will be listed below as ADUs receive plan review approval from the Building and Safety Bureau. The plans are limited to single-story, freestanding ADUs of less than 1,200 sq. ft.
Property owners can then work directly with the design professional of their choice to obtain construction documents for a fee negotiated by and between the design professional and the property owner. Subsequently, property owners can submit the PAADU plans and site-specific plans to the Bureau at the City Hall 2nd floor Development Permit Center for an over-the-counter (OTC) review and permit issuance.
