The CARES Act included all jurisdictions already receiving federal grant funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The City of Long Beach was initially awarded $3,618,830 from this program, known as CDBG-CV, and has now been awarded an additional $4,585,285 through a third round of alloctions, known as CDBG-CV3.

HUD has identified the urgent need to prevent, prepare for and respond to the spread of COVID-19 and assist eligible individuals, families and organizations who are economically impacted at this time, and has thereby allowed a change to existing public participation requirements. CDBG-CV3 recipients have been given the flexibility to notify the public of the allocation and how it will be spent, online.

The table describes how the City of Long Beach proposes to use the CDBG-CV3 funds.

The Public Comment Period runs from December 11, 2020 through December 16, 2020.

Public comments are encouraged and should be submitted to Alem Hagos, Operations Officer at Alem.Hagos@longbeach.gov or by mail at:
