Zone In: WestLB

The City of Long Beach is undertaking efforts to rezone properties along West Willow St and Santa Fe Ave in West Long Beach and we want to hear from you!

This systematic rezoning effort is part of a larger effort known as Zone In, which is taking place through Long Beach pursuant to state law and will update zoning regulations to implement the General Plan Land Use Element and the 6th Cycle Housing Element.

Zone In: WestLB will help the City ensure sufficient zoned capacity to meet existing and future housing needs as required by state law. It will also allow for more essential service and resources for neighborhoods throughout the city including increased access to shopping, grocery stores, banks, pharmacies and other priorities that are identified by the West Long Beach community.

This effort builds upon previous city plans, goals, objectives and strategies to ensure that the City meets the housing needs of current and future Long Beach residents and provides fair housing options, neighborhood services, and business opportunities for all.

Rezoning for major corridors in West Long Beach has been prioritized through an urgency ordinance that was adopted by the Long Beach City Council.
