Architect: Meyer and Holler
The store opened as Marti Stores, and became Walker's in 1933, whose slogan was: "The Friendly Store of Long Beach." The architecture blends Art Deco and Renaissance Revivial. Architects Meyer and Holler were eminent Los Angeles architects who designed several Long Beach buildings: the Fox West Coast Theater (demolished) and the Ocean Center Building. After many years of vacancy, the building was converted into 39 loft condominiums with 7 penthouse units on the roof. The original cornice has been replicated.
