Holiday Treecycling Service
Release Date: 2024-11-22
The Department of Public Works will once again offer Holiday Treecycling, providing an accessible and responsible holiday live tree recycling service for residents at no charge.
Residents are asked to:
- Remove decorations
- Take the tree out of the stand
- Cut tree in half if they are over 12 feet tall
- Leave trees unwrapped
About 200 tons of holiday trees are recycled into landscaping mulch by the City each year instead of being sent to landfills. An added benefit of the recycling service is the reduction of potential fire hazards and obstructions in the public right-of-way with illegally dumped trees.
Residents are strongly encouraged to drop-off used trees at the City-wide locations to reduce the strain on refuse collection services following the holiday season. However, there will be a special collection for those unable to visit a drop-off location. See below for more information.
Flocked trees are accepted.
Drop-off sites are available at 12 parks throughout the City, see below for a list of exact locations.
