Holiday Treecycling Service

Release Date: 2025-12-01

The Department of Energy and Environmental Services will offer Holiday Treecycling, providing Long Beach residents a convenient and responsible way to drop-off live holiday trees for recycling at no cost.

Residents are asked to:

  • Remove decorations
  • Take the tree out of the stand
  • Cut tree in half if they are over 12 feet tall
  • Leave trees unwrapped
Nearly 155 tons of holiday trees were recycled into landscaping mulch by the City last year instead of being sent to landfills. An added benefit of the drop-off locations is the reduction of potential fire hazards and obstructions in the public right-of-way as a result of illegally dumped trees.

Residents are strongly encouraged to drop-off live trees at the citywide locations to reduce the strain on refuse collection services following the holiday season. However, there will be a special collection for those unable to visit a drop-off location. See below for more information.

Flocked trees are accepted.

Drop-off sites are available at 13 locations throughout the city,  see below for a list of exact locations.

A flyer is available in Spanish, Khmer, and Tagalog
