PROGRAM OVERVIEW

In April 2024, the City of Long Beach Public Works Department was awarded a competitive U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Recycling Education and Outreach (REO) grant for over $1,000,000 to carry out multilingual education and outreach for recycling, waste reduction and food waste prevention in Long Beach.  

The City of Long Beach is awarding up to $290,000 of the grant funding across multiple local community organizations to provide culturally informed education resources and outreach for the Spanish, English, Khmer and Tagalog-speaking communities of Long Beach. Funding may be awarded to community organizations for education and outreach initiatives that support any of the following objectives: 

Outreach may include workshops, events, awareness campaigns and other activities that best reach target audiences.  

Applications are due on February 20, 2025 at 11 am.

APPLY FOR FUNDING 

Applications must be submitted as a response to Request for Proposals (RFP), Bid Number PW-24-393 in the City’s procurement portal, Long Beach Buys. Organizations not already registered in Long Beach Buys can register for free at longbeachbuys.buyspeed.com/bso/. We recommend registering early in order to prevent any issues closer to the deadline.
