Residential Recycling Tour

BACKGROUND
Long Beach community members are invited to a recycling facility tour in partnership with the City’s contracted residential recycling hauler, WM. During the tour, participants will see how materials from curbside recycling carts are sorted using both technology and trained staff. Participants will learn what happens to materials after they are collected, what can and cannot be recycled, and how people and equipment work together to keep the recycling system running.

One-hour tours will be held, two on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and two on Monday, September 14, 2026. Register by selecting one of the tour times listed below:

For safety reasons and to comply with facility requirements, tours are open to Long Beach community members 18 or older. There are 13 spots available per tour, and advanced registration is required to secure a spot. Tours fill up quickly. Those who register after a tour is full will be placed on a waitlist and contacted if a spot opens up.
Please note that this tour involves stair climbing. The City is committed to providing an inclusive experience and will make an effort to accommodate individual needs.
