LGB Viewing Area

A front-row seat to the fascinating world of aviation, the LGB Viewing Area is a dedicated space for plane spotters and other aviation enthusiasts to watch takeoffs and landings, providing spectacular views of airplane and helicopter traffic on the airfield.

Provided with the generosity and collaboration of our Airport partner, the observation area is located on the leasehold of Aero Long Beach and is generally open to the public from dawn to dusk on a first-come, first-served basis. It includes bleacher-style seating, a shade structure, picnic tables and landscaping for “bird watchers” at the northwest corner of the parking lot at 3750-3900 Kilroy Airport Way, near the intersection of Spring Street and Redondo Avenue.

It’s a comfortable space for individuals and families to see many types of aircraft. It’s also a place for the community to learn about our more than 100-year-old municipal airport, with QR elements that can be scanned to allow people to learn more about LGB and to listen to tower communications from mobile devices.
