Are you planning to visit the Hawaiian islands this summer? Check out our video to find out why Long Beach Airport is the best place to start your Hawaiian vacation! ☀️🏖️🌴
Fly Easy at LGB
Meet Earl Daugherty, "King of Aviation" and Champion of Long Beach Airport
Earl S. Daugherty was a pioneer aviator and advocate for the creation of Long Beach Airport, which was established in 1923 and is California's oldest airport. Known locally as the "King of Aviation," our airfield was named in his honor and is still referred to as Daugherty Field by many pilots today.
Among his many accomplishments, he was also one of the earliest aerial photographers and filmmakers. Enjoy this video of the barnstorming legend flying over Long Beach in the 1920s.
Not Because It's Easy
Accelerate Long Beach, the Long Beach Economic Partnership's quarterly economic forum, featured Airport Director Cynthia Guidry and footage of Long Beach Airport's rich history in a video called "Not Because It's Easy."
